Frequently Asked Questions
1. How much is a rental?
A deposit of $15 cash or check is required for rental. The rental includes a bike, lock, and helmet. When those items are returned, the $15 deposit can be returned or donated to support the costs of Hub Cycle.
2. What kinds of bikes do you have?
Hub Cycle's bicycle selection is dependent on the donations we receive. Bikes are donated to the program and, if needed, are refurbished by our bicycle mechanic.
3. Can I rent two bikes, one for me and one for another person?
Only one bike rental is allowed per person; this process must be done in person. Every renter is required to sign a waiver and a release, so the individual must be present at the time of borrowing a bicycle.
4. Can I rent a bike if I am under the age of 18?
Hub Cycle does not loan bikes to anyone under the age of 18.
5. What do I do if the bike is stolen?
If your Hub Cycle bike is stolen, first, fill out a police report with Spartanburg Public Safety or the Sheriff's office. Partners for Active Living should be made aware that the bike has been stolen and should receive a copy of the police report. If the bike is stolen, your original deposit will not be returned to you. Upon receipt of the police report, you are eligible to borrow another bicycle but an additional $15 deposit is required.
6. Can I reserve a bike and pick up at another time?
A bike may be reserved for one week only. After the week has passed the bike will be taken off reserve and will be available for rent. A deposit is NOT required for reserving a bike but must be paid when the bike is picked up.
